After delivering blockbuster hits like Padmaavat and Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor has recently rediscovered his footing in the box office game. One movie made over 300 crores in India alone, while another came close by earning over 270 crores. While everything appears to be going well for him, his inconsistent box office performance is preventing him from receiving the raise he so richly deserves.
Shahid Kapoor Demands Hike in his salary despite Jersey Failure
Shahid made a successful film debut in 2003 with the romantic comedy Ishq Vishk. Next year, Shahid will complete 20 years in Bollywood. Only now has he begun to receive his just due. Shahid has delivered some great performances. He hasn’t always enjoyed commercial success, and his most recent release is the best illustration of this.
Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey flopped horribly at the box office following the huge success of Kabir Singh. Despite positive reviews, the movie only brought in 20.50 crores at the box office. Despite the movie’s failure, the actor has requested a salary increase of 5 crores. This is for a project he has not yet agreed to sign.
For those who are unaware, Shahid Kapoor reportedly demanded a staggering 35 crores for the movie Jersey. Following the collapse of the project, many accused the actor of accepting sizable money while tripling the budget.
Shahid certainly deserves a raise in pay for his brilliance. His patchy box office performance doesn’t quite support that claim.
In the meantime, speaking of upcoming movies, Raj & DK’s Farzi, which stars Shahid Kapoor, will shortly mark the actor’s web series debut. Vijay Sethupathi will also be making his web debut with this series alongside him.
