Ajay Devgn‘s digital debut, Rudra – The Edge of Darkness, was rumored to be worth Rs. 125 crore by Bollywood Hungama in June. Now we’ve learned that the show’s director is getting compensated significantly less. Rajesh Mapuskar is being paid Rs. 4 crores to direct season 1 of the program, according to credible sources.
“Ajay Devgn making his digital debut is significant news, and it caught the attention of major streaming firms, therefore being paid Rs. 125 crore for Rudra was quite obvious. Rajesh is getting paid a figure of Rs. 4 crore for directing the first season of Rudra,” the insider says, referring to Rajesh Mapuskar’s payment for directing the program.
When asked why there is such a big disparity, the insider says, “Writers and directors generally don’t get their fair amount of applause. The money generally goes to A-list actors since, more than a director, it is the actor’s name that propels a film or series forward.”
Rudra – The Edge of Darkness is described as an intriguing dark, gritty crime-drama series. It combines a novel storytelling structure with compelling characters, making it a must-see for thriller and crime drama enthusiasts. The show is an Indian version of the successful BBC series Luther. Luther was produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with BBC Studios India. Rudra will premiere on Disney + Hotstar VIP shortly.
Ajay had previously described Rudra as “the crime thriller of the year” when announcing the project. For this show, the Omkara actor will play a cop with grey shades.
