Laxmii Movie Review | Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani's Laxmii fails to impress the audience

The makers of the movie claim the movie to be a horror-comedy genre. However, it falls short on horror and comedy both. The movie starts with Asif (Akshay Kumar) who is a Muslim and married to Rasmi (Kiara Advani) a Hindu girl. Laxmii gives Sadak 2 an outside chance to redeem itself as the second-worst film of the year. It reminds you of the brainless Bollywood efforts of the eighties and the nineties where ‘script’ was something that seemed to be written on an ad hoc basis, even as the film was being shot. It’s a complete mockery of the audience’s intelligence and a big blow to Disney+ Hotstar’s chances to stand in the way of other major Indian OTT players.

Akshay was a hoot in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Priyadarshan’s 2007 flick which was also a horror-comedy. Claiming to break stereotypes by heavily stereotyping people across the board is a device bad Bollywood never seems to get enough of all the transgender characters clap their hands and dance around a fire; a good Muslim character wears a ‘topi’ and beard, and everyone else speaks their lines in the hope of making us laugh.

No, one succeeds in the movie, not even Akshay Kumar. So, this was all in Bollywood Hush’s Laxmii movie review. Bollywood Hush gives the movie one star of five. Stay tuned to Bollywood Hush for more news and updates on the latest Bollywood movies.
