Romance has been exaggerated not only in movies but even in the real lives of Bollywood actors. One such story involves RD Burman and Asha Bhosle, two seasoned members of the profession. The seasoned performer previously talked about how her late husband sent her roses for years.
For those who are unaware, Burman and Ashaji married in 1980; nine years later, the music composer and his first wife, Rita Patel, divorced. The couple produced some of the most enduring Bollywood tunes, and just like their hit singles, their romance has been immensely captivating. It is a filmy one!
Asha Bhosle confessed to The Quint, “He (RD Burman) once scared the living daylights out of me by donning an Afro-wig in the dark. Everyone, including me, would mimic him. He sent me flowers on an anonymous basis for years. Majrooh Saab and Pancham were present when the roses were brought one day. Throw them away, I commanded. Some idiot keeps throwing his roses at me. Pancham’s face dropped. Majrooh Saab then chuckled and said, “It’s this fool who’s been sending you the roses.”
Asha Bhosle went on to describe how their relationship developed through music. “Music was the fundamental cornerstone of our marriage, and we could listen to Bismillah Khan, the Beatles, Shirley Bassey, and so many others for hours on end. We would hum along to the CDs of John Coltrane, Earth Wind and Fire, Sergio Mendes, Santana, the Rolling Stones, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chuck Correa, Osibisa, and so many more from 9.30 am till 3 pm when Pancham would emerge from his shower wearing a lungi kurta. Our broad musical tastes served as the foundation of our enduring relationship,” she continued.
The pair set some significant couple goals when they were together!
