Yuvika Chaudhary was allegedly arrested on Monday in connection with the accused use of a casteist insult in a video. The SC/ST Act was used to charge Bigg Boss 9’s celebrity. Following an order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, she was later released on bail.
According to ANI, actress Yuvika Chaudhary’s lawyer Ashok Bishnoi said, “My client has joined the investigation as per the instructions issued by the High Court, and she is on interim bail presently (in a case of alleged derogatory remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform).”
Yuvika got into controversy six months ago when she used a casteist slur in a vlog, which was met with backlash and she was ridiculed as a result. She shot a video with her spouse, Prince Narula, earlier this year in which he was seen getting dressed. Yuvika had used a casteist slur to describe how terrible she looked. She then apologized for hurting people’s feelings and admitted that she didn’t understand what it meant. The hashtag #ArrestYuvikaChoudhary began trending on Twitter shortly after the video went viral. Yuvika was arrested by the Haryana Police in May of this year after a Dalit rights activist filed a complaint. Prince Narula, Yuvika’s spouse, defended her a few days after the incident, saying that people make a big issue out of tiny things.
Yuvika apologized to her followers on Twitter. “Hi guys I didn’t know the meaning of the word wt I used in my recent vlog. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that. My sincere apologies to each n everyone I hope you understand the love you all,” she wrote.
The actress also apologized in a video for using a casteist term.
