Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty’s husband, is now in judicial custody after being caught in a pornography-related case. He will have to stay behind the bars for more time. The sessions court on Tuesday postponed a hearing on his bail application until August 20 after the Crime Branch stated 19 reasons to oppose it. The Crime Branch stated in court that Kundra was refusing to cooperate and that their investigation was still ongoing. They also stated that much more evidence needed to be gathered. Many more witnesses and victims were coming forward to provide testimony.
It was previously discovered that the pornographic content was streamed via an app called HotShots, which was related to Kundra’s firm. According to the police, Kundra was in control of the app through Kenrin Limited, a London-based company. Pradeep Bakshi, Kundra’s brother-in-law, owns the firm and is now wanted in the case.
The Crime Branch opposed Kundra’s bail request, claiming that as a powerful person, he may tamper with evidence and influence witnesses because some of them work for his firm. They further said that if he walks out on bond, he may flee the nation because he is a British citizen.
In the pornographic investigation, the authorities have so far detained 11 persons, including Kundra. They’ve also been accused of pressuring women into working in pornographic films. Promising them jobs in Bollywood and other OTT platforms.
The defense counsel requested additional time to reply to the criminal branch’s arguments. The case will be heard in court on August 20.
