The wife of singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, Shalini Talwar, has filed a lawsuit under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, seeking protection and other reliefs. On August 3, the Tis Hazari Court issued an interim injunction in Shalini Talwar’s favor, prohibiting Honey Singh from selling his jointly held property, his wife’s stridhan, and other items.

Shalini Talwar claims she was forced out of the singer’s house in her lawsuit against her husband, Honey Singh alias Hirdesh Singh, her mother-in-law Bhupinder Kaur, and her father-in-law Sarabjit Singh. According to sources, she was evicted from her home in March and was evicted again in June. She had gone to get some of her possessions.
Talwar’s lawyer, Sandeep Kaur, testified that she has been the victim of several episodes of physical, verbal, mental, and emotional abuse by her husband and his family members.
In her application, she claims that his career began to take off around the time of their marriage. He became known as ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh,’ and that as his fan base grew. Honey Singh’s attitude toward her shifted. He became rude, arrogant, aggressive, disdainful, and disrespectful. She has detailed facts about his violent behavior in her 120-page application. From their honeymoon in Mauritius through his adultery, physical violence, and how he lied in public about their wedding.
The rapper panicked and beat her cruelly in 2011, after someone distributed their wedding photos. He accused Shalini of leaking their wedding photos because he wanted to hide their wedding for his celebrity. It was portrayed as a movie still, not a real wedding shot, by his digital media team.
Honey Singh was reported in an interview in 2013 as stating, “I may have a lot of girlfriends, but I am not at all married. Those wedding photos on the internet aren’t real; they’re from a shoot I did.”
