Farrukh Jaffar, a veteran actor with a career spanning four decades, died at the age of 88. The actress established a big name for herself recently with her part as Fatima Begum in the film Gulabo Sitabo.

On the 15th of October 2021, the actress died in Lucknow. Mehru Jafar, her eldest daughter, told PTI that her mother was admitted to the hospital on October 4 after complaining of breathlessness. Her lungs were unable to absorb the oxygen that had been given to her. She was admitted to the Sahara Hospital. Mummy was admitted to the hospital on October 4 due to breathlessness. She wasn’t feeling good. Her lungs were unable to absorb the oxygen administered to her. She went away around 6 p.m,” Mehru Jafar was reported as saying.
Shaaz Ahmad, the late actor’s grandson, announced her death on Twitter, writing, “My grandmother and wife of Freedom Fighter, Ex MLC Mr. S.M.Jaffar and Veteran Actress Mrs. Farrukh Jafar passed away tonight at 7 pm in Lucknow.” On Saturday morning, her final rites will be performed. Farrukh Jafar began her career in 1963 as one of Vividh Bharti Lucknow’s first radio broadcasters and later acted in the 1981 film Umrao Jaan as Rekha’s on-screen mother.
Her legacy, however, was carved by her roles in the 2000s. Three roles starring the veteran will always be remembered: Swades, Peepli Live, and Gulabo Sitabo.
She told PTI, “Maine Suna ki Begum baazi maar le jati hai image mein,” after she was hailed for her role in Gulabo Sitabo. (I’ve heard Begum outruns everyone else in the movie.) It makes me delighted to have such positive feedback on my character.”
