Arun Shankar on music production during the lockdown:
“For films, one needs to take out time to sit and watch. Music videos are short. Hardly up to three minutes or a little more. So, it is something anybody can access anytime, anywhere. People connect their thoughts and emotions to songs based on the genre, so when they are in a particular mood, they would like to hear a song that suits them,” he adds. The multitalented singer-composer-lyricist is thrilled to witness the growing trend of singles featuring actors.
“People love music, and if there is a video to it that is catchy, it gets played again and again by the listener. And in the process the actor who features in it also gets attention,” he says.
According to Arun, the nationwide-induced lockdown owing to the coronavirus pandemic has led to more music videos being produced. “Lockdown has contributed to the number of music videos that get made nowadays as it’s easier and less expensive than making a full-fledged film. One saves a lot of time as well. Also, to keep themselves relevant in the market artists have started doing a lot of music videos,” he says. Here’s hoping 2021 too will witness a surge of unforgettable melodies.
