On Tuesday morning, Priyanka Chopra came to Instagram to make a huge announcement. The actress said that she will now lead the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, which was previously managed by Deepika Padukone. In a video that lasted over a minute, Priyanka expressed her delight at the prospect of working with great people to introduce Indian cinema to the rest of the globe.
The festival is slated to begin in October 2021, and Priyanka Chopra will be in charge. “Now more than ever, we need to talk to each other, to listen to each other, and understand how we see the world, and cinema is the perfect vehicle for doing this,” Priyanka wrote with the video. “Martin Scorsese,” says the director.
She went on to say, “With that in mind, I am honored to accept a new position as Chairperson of the Jio Mami Film Festival, India’s largest film festival. We’re rebuilding the festival with a new creative vision. It will be attuned to the significant changes the world has seen in the last two years. Working alongside an outstanding team of like-minded individuals. This new era for the event, as well as for me, excites me greatly. We look forward to seeing you at the movies… we are now OPEN!”
Due to the pandemic and Covid-19 limitations last year, the film festival, which takes place over a week, moved its focus online. The film festival is unlikely to return on the big screen this year as well. Instead, the festival will begin on October 21 and run until March 20, 2022. It will have a variety of new and exciting activities planned for this year.
