Actor Vivaan Arora did several films, TV shows and was slowly making a place for himself in showbiz when life took a different turn. A personal incident led him to take a break in acting and go back to his hometown to support his family.
“I didn’t want to quit, but yes, I had to take a break because in 2017. My father faced losses in his business. The situation became worse, and we almost went bankrupt. So, I had to go back to my home town Ludhiana to be with my family and support them.” says the actor. who has done Punjabi films, Aish Kar Lai, Ek Wari Haan Karde and Dramebaaz Kalakar, and TV shows, Khushiyon Kii Gullak Aashi, SuperCops vs Supervillains, Savdhaan India and Aahat.
Talking more about how difficult the year 2017 was for the Arora family, he shares that the business was in partnership and before 2017 also it was facing some loss here and there. But his father didn’t bother much thinking such things happen in business.
“But when we saw the worst in 2017, he doubted and checked everything and got to know that there were so many things happening behind his back. The partner was not giving money, and all bank instalments were pending, and bank notices were coming. Then I got to know about all these things and had to be by my father’s side. He was upset and shattered. I gave all my savings to the bank and stayed there and handled things. We started again with 30 lakhs as capital, and within three years that same company’s worth went up to 10 crores. So, things are stable, and I am being able to concentrate on my acting career,” he adds.
Actor Vivaan Arora on leaving showbiz:
They are into the garment business and manufacture the cloth required to make T-shirts. Soon they are planning to launch their garment brand.
“Now that I’m back in showbiz after three years. I’m happy to restart. My mind is relaxed now that everything is all good, and I can concentrate on my craft. I’m looking for good offers to come my way and also giving auditions… To be honest, I enjoy playing negative roles. I feel such roles have more scope to perform as compared to a regular positive character. But that doesn’t mean I would like to get stereotyped playing on characters having grey shades,” he states.
Vivaan missed the industry a lot during these 3 years. “I had to give up all my time to my work, and in between some offers too came for web series. But I had to turn them down because at that time business was my focus,” says the actor, whose first acting break as a child happened alongside Mukesh Khanna. It was a Chavanprash ad.
While he got rejected many times before this ad happened, he never lost hope. Not many know that the actor also did Hindi theatre for four years.
Vivaan is keen on taking up films, TV shows, and web series. He is just looking for work that will help him grow. So, what kind of Punjabi films would he like to do? “I like serious cinema, so my preference would be thrillers. But let’s see what works out next,” he wraps up.
