Sooryavanshi | Release Date
Sooryavanshi, a big-budget cop action film, was set to hit theaters on April 30, 2021. The actual release date was a year before on March 24, 2020. The initial delay was also caused by the pandemic when theaters around the country were forced to close due to the statewide lockdown. However, on October 15 of last year, cinemas were allowed to reopen with a 50% occupancy level.
The Sooryavanshi team then awaited a rise in the occupancy quota. The federal government declared an increase in occupancy in February 2021. It encouraged production companies to arrange their movie for theaters.
The creators of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi stated that the film’s release date has been postponed. It was due to an increase in coronavirus infections in Maharashtra. The decision came a day after the Maharashtra government ordered a night curfew and a weekend lockdown. The order was given to combat the state’s escalating COVID-19 cases.
The film’s team described director Rohit Shetty’s move as brave and tough in an official statement.
