Sandalwood Drug Case: Police raid Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law Aditya Alva’s house

Another drug case related to the entertainment industry has emerged in the headlines. Police raid Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law Aditya Alva’s house in Bengaluru. Aditya Alva is among the 12 accused in the Sandalwood drug scandal which is investigated by the CCB police.  The news on Sandalwood Drug Case is getting in-depth.

Intensifying its investigation into the Sandalwood drug case, the Central Crime Bureau of the Bengaluru City Police on Tuesday conducted raids on properties owned by Aditya Alva, brother-in-law of Bollywood Star, Vivek Oberoi, and son of the late former minister, Jeevraj Alva. 

Aditya Alva had been absconded ever since the police had carried out raids on Sandalwood star Ragini Dwivedi’s residence. He was on Monday remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and is in the Parappana Agrahara prisons on the outskirts of the city. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested three persons from the city, who were allegedly supplying drugs to singers and actors in the Kannada film industry, also known as “Sandalwood”.

Ragini was shifted to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in the city. On Monday the court extended the police custody of another Kannada actress Sanjjanaa Galrani who was also arrested in the drug case by CCB police. 

He hails from a highly influential family background. His late father, Jeevaraj Alva was considered to be one of the most powerful ministers and leaders of his time. He was regarded as the right-hand man of the late Chief Minister, Ramakrishna Hegde.  

Aditya’s mother, Nandini Alva too is a noted figure in the state. She is a renowned dancer and event organizer. She was one of the founding members of the Bengaluru Habba (Bengaluru Fest), which was launched during the then Chief Minister, S. M. Krishna’s tenure between 1999-2004. This helped Bengaluru to showcase its cultural talent too. 

Besides this, Aditya is also the brother-in-law of Bollywood star, Vivek Oberoi. Recently, filmmaker and journalist Indrajit Lankesh, while giving his statement to the CCB on the Kannada film industry drug scandal, claimed that at least 15 people in the industry were involved in the drug trade.
