The fear and panic in the world continue to rise, with no cure yet, the Bollywood industry is facing a loss, like never before. Coronavirus pandemic is affecting the economy of the country, and indirectly the entertainment industry. There has been a major loss in Bollywood in years due to the coronavirus pandemic. As the shooting of the films and serials shut down, the box offices and cinemas are also closed. The actors and the audience both fear to go out in public places.

The year 2020 had a lot of promising film releases, let’s take a look:
- Sooryavanshi by Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar have been postponed until next month.
- Sitara a film by Ronnie Screwala is a small budget film that also got crushed due to coronavirus. The film was supposed to release last month in Kerala but has been withheld as the government declared state calamity.
- Baaghi 3, although did well then what expected, also got affected by the deadly disease. Many theatres got shut down, while the film was already running on the silver screen.
- Angrezi Medium chose to fight the virus. It was released on the day scheduled. Just the next day of the film release, the theatres and cinemas were shut down by the government. A 30 percent to 40 percent impact on its business is calculated by Johar. He had expected the film to open in the range of 3 crores to 4 crores.
- SIR film of actress Tillotama was supposed to release on March 20th has also been postponed.
Last year, in 2019, the total Bollywood business in the first three months was around Rs 1,155 crore. The films Uri: The Surgical Strike, Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika, Gully Boy, Total Dhamaal, Kesari had dominated the cinemas and minted money.
2020’s January-March stretch will be short of around Rs 400 crore to match up to Bollywood’s last year’s business during the same period.
