As per sources, Jyoti Deshpande has been named CEO of Viacom18 with immediate effect. Jyoti already sits on the boards of Network18, Balaji Telefilms, and Saavn Media, two of the company’s investees. Her new role will entail bringing synergies across all of Reliance’s media interests and investments. As well as preparing the company to capitalize on enormous growth prospects as the sector embraces the digital revolution.

Jyoti has over 27 years of experience working in the media and entertainment industry. After successfully building a major media company and pioneering an early disruptive foray into the OTT industry, she joined Reliance Industries in 2018 as President – Media Platform & Content. Jyoti has leveraged her industry ties as a business leader at Reliance in the last three years. The ties were to develop Jio Studios as a vital member of the media value chain.
Chairman of Network18, Adil Zainulbhai welcomed Jyoti Deshpande warmly. Welcoming her, Network18 chairman said, “Viacom18 is positioned to grow as a completely integrated media firm across broadcast, OTT, and content studio business spanning general entertainment, cinema, and sports across languages. We feel Jyoti is the perfect person to head the company and its operations. Given her extensive experience in the media sector in terms of content, distribution, and monetization across existing and emerging platforms.”
In August, Viacom18 also announced the appointment of Viraj Raje as the Head of Programming for Colors Marathi. He is in charge of the channel’s content strategy as well as its creative framework.
Viraj has received multiple honors, including the Maharashtra State Award for Best Director for the feature film Shyamche Vadil. He also wont Best Social Film and Screenplay for Babanchi Shala, and the Maharashtra State Award for Best Director for the feature film Shyamche Vadil.
